The new Samsung Galaxy S8 has just been revealed today. Samsung’s pride and joy phone is set to launch in less than a month, on April 21st, with a starting rumored price tag of $720.
The US version comes with a 5.8 inch OLED 2960×1440 screen, powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa Core processor. It ships with a 3,000 mAh irreplaceable battery, and Android 7.0, codename Nougat. Connectivity wise, the phone ships with AC wireless, LTE Cat.16, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone has been tested to be IP68 water and dust resistant. The S8 comes with a S8 plus version, with a slightly bigger screen and battery.
While there has been no major surprises with the release of the technical specifications of the phone, (Other than people pleasantly surprised the 3.5mm headphone jack survived) the biggest question here will be the Quality control testing. After the exploding battery fiasco nearly killed the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung must be on top of their game.
